For those who have been out for 5 years or more.......
by Phizzy in........... do you find you are now far more relaxed about things ?
things in general, and things wt/jw related ?.
i find i am much more relaxed and pragmatic about life in general, mrs phizzy and i do what we can, but we don't get overly upset at what we cannot do.

Terry is right. We let God slide....
by DATA-DOG inthere were many great comments on the " theist/suffering" thread, but terry's really caught my eye.
its the simplest way to describe what believers do.
we simply give the "god" of the bible a free pass.

It's my understanding that this site is a place one can express one's true feelings about spiritual things w/o alot of censor
I was completely ignorant of jw's before they came to my door and I thought that during our bible studies we could have open discussions and say whatever we want and that's how it can start out in a very deceptive way. When you're a study you say anything you want and it's only after your baptized that you feel the net closing in on you. At a certain point you realize free expression is not allowed and you realize you really didn't ask all the questions you should have. Why would I ask about 1975 for example I never knew anything about it. Back in the 80's there wasn't internet info and now I look back and realize I didn't fully get what I was signing up for.
For me the whole thing was some crazy experiment that I tried out and it wasn't the right answer. live and learn however, I wasn't raised in it and that's a whole different ballgame.

Anything in life that might bring you any happiness or enjoyment is off limits and a distraction from the gb's agenda

That's the deal god can do whatever it wants because it's god and if you don't like it your likely to be killed or tortured and it loves it when you beg for your life.
it just warms your heart doesn't it

Rules on blood also apply to our pets
by Splash inwhile researching something else, i came across these two comments from a wt on how we should view the blood issue, when it comes to our pets.. *** w64 2/15 p. 127 questions from readers ***.
"would it be a violation of the scriptures for a christian to permit a veterinarian to give blood transfusions to a pet?
by all means, to do so would be a violation of the scriptures.".

Linda had a little chat
all about her siamese cat
the elder said it was a shame
disfellowship he did proclaim
blood was on her little paws
by eating mice she broke the laws
and now no one can speak to her
no matter how much she would purr

The group vote was in the most provocative parody song was "Itsy bitsey teenie weenie yellow polka dot Bikini" and the question was should we legalize this new version of monster mash "They're smokin hash they're smokin monster hash It caught on in a flash". It was a great party many old crazy songs were sung and everyone had a good laugh.

I watched part of it yesterday and it was really creepy. They make it sound like all jobs never let you go home and that people can just quit working and pioneer and everything will be fine. I wonder where the couple livng in the basement would live if jw's didn't let them freeload. What about those fancy clean clothes and medical care someone's bound to get sick and what about a car, gas and insurance. the big J doesn't live bags of money under trees for good little jw's. i knew someone who had "real spiritual pioneer parents" who would drag them over to visit other congregation families at dinnertime forcing them to feed them out of guilt. There was always complaints about the wealtheir congregation families but also an expectation that they would pay for things and everyone wanted to go to their parties. Somebody has to work to pay the bills.

Theodore being normally reticent to expose himself to uncomfortable situations decided to take a walk in the park one evening with his dog Chipsteroo a chunky indolent basset hound. It was beginning to get dark and Theodore was anxious to get home when suddenly a very truculent squirrel rushed towards chipsteroo who began to howl in fear causing nearby dogs to join in the chorus which ended up sounding like a pack of coyotes had invaded the park. The phone lines in the police station erupted with frantic calls and police cars surrounding Theodore, chipsteroo and the crazy squirrel the photo in the newspaper was priceless.
